Often on older sites that have seen a lot of updates, or when a new site is launched to replace an older site, you end up with a lot of external links pointing to pages that don't exist any more.

With this custom report you get an overview of all 404 error pages on your site (assuming your 404 error page has the '404' term in its page title), and when you click on the 404 page you see the full referral of the site that links to the 404 page.

This way you can quickly and easily find links that need to be re-purposed, either by contacting the site owner or by just 301 redirecting the 404 page to a more appropriate page.

Hmm...my 404 page has no title tag. Will have to look into changing that as this custom report looks super useful!

Thanks @badams!

Remember to add google tracking code to your 404 pages if you want this report to work.
